Mutual Chip Authentication Lucjan Hanzlik, Kamil Kluczniak, Lukasz Krzywiecki, Miroslaw Kutylowski Wroclaw University of Technology We present a Mutual Chip Authentication protocol for authentication and key agreement between mobile devices. It has been designed as an option for Terminal Authentication (TA) and Chip Authentication (ChA) developed for electronic travel documents (MRTD). Unlike conventional TA, the protocol execution does not provide any digital record that could be used as a proof against third parties that an interaction with a given terminal took place. Our design is symmetric in the sense that the code executed by both participants is the same (apart from the sequence of operations executed), which makes implementation easy on resource limited devices such as smart cards. So easily each participant can play the role of a card or of a terminal from conventional TA.
