General information:

• This course is an obligatory course for Computer Security and Cryptography Master Program.
• The lecture is in English.
• This is a group of courses with Exercises (2h per week) and Lab (2h every 2nd week).

Current schedule:

• lectures: Monday, 13:15-15, with streaming over MS Teams, the room assigned is Building C16, room D2.2
• exam:
  • regular: July 3, 9:00-11:00, D2.2, building C16,
  • 2nd attempt: July 10, 9:00-11:00, D2.2, building C16,

however there will be a substantial adjustment in details taking into account the current trends

Basic literature:

• some electronic teaching material will be available here, access with a password to be given during the first lecture

Requirements:

• Presence during the lectures is obligatory, whenever possible I will record the lecture on the MS Teams platform in order to make it available in case of absence from personal reasons (illness, etc.)
• The final grade is determined by
  • lab (points rescaled to 0-30 points)
  • exercises (points rescaled to 0-30 points)
  • exam (rescaled to 0-40 points)
  For the exam: at least 40% of points is a necessary condition to pass the exam
• The following scale applies (the numbers concern the percentage of points earned):
  • [40,50) - 3.0
  • [50,60 ) - 3.5
  • [60,70 ) - 4
  • [70,80 ] - 4.5
  • over 80 - 5
  • 5.5 will be given for extraordinary achievements
• Exam: will check understanding, skills, creativity. Each question will be problem solving (sometimes tricky)
• Intellectual Property Rights: no work can be accepted/evaluated in case of violation of intellectual property rights by the student. Such work will be non-existent from the point of view of learning points. The approach will be strict!

Goals:

The lecture has two goals:

• learn algorithm/schemes and proof methods of cryptography,
• get concrete practical experience and skills related to it.

Creativity is very welcome. Seeing the whole spectrum of problems is the most important skill to be learned.

Prerequisites:

Some algebra (mainly modular arithmetic).
