This course is an obligatory course for Computer Security and Cryptography Master Program.
The course is in English.
Our goal is to develop general knowledge and practical skills related to interplay of computer security technologies
and the regulatory framework, not confined to the legal rules but also to official standards and voluntary schemes.
Current schedule:
lectures: Tuesday, 11:15-13, with streaming over MS Teams, the room assigned is Building D1, 311d
however there will be a substantial adjustment in details taking into account the current trends
Basic literature:
some electronic teaching material will be available
here, access with a password
to be given during the first lecture
Requirements:
Presence during the lectures is obligatory, whenever possible I will record the lecture on the MS Teams platform
in order to make it available in case of absence from personal reasons (illness, etc.)
The final grade is determined by
the number of points got for the assignments. There will be an assignment following each chapter of the course.
The assignments should be uploaded via MS Teams platform.
THe feedback will be given over MS Teams as well
The following scale applies (the numbers concern the percentage of points earned):
[40,50) - 3.0
[50,60 ) - 3.5
[60,70 ) - 4
[70,80 ] - 4.5
over 80 - 5
5.5 will be given for extraordinary achievements
The verification process will check understanding, skills, creativity related to problem solving as well as practical skills
in creating relevant documentation.
Intellectual Property Rights: no work can be accepted/evaluated in case of
violation of intellectual property rights by the student. Such work will be non-existent
from the point of view of learning points.
The approach will be strict!
Goals:
The lecture has two goals:
learn regulatory conditions for computer security and cryptography,
get some practical experience in surviving in this framework given all inconsistencies, imperfectness, ....
Creativity is very welcome. Seeing the whole spectrum of problems
is the most important skill to be learned.
Prerequisites:
No particular technical knowledge is assumed.
There will be some interaction with the Cryptography course running in parallel.
Precision, patience and skills in
problem analysis and writing documentation
will be needed.
